What is Crossplay? And how does it work?

Every podcast needs a gimmick or "feature" to keep listeners interested and to shake things up a bit. It also helps differentiate us so you don't feel like you're listening to the same thing over and over again. Introducing Crossplay! A twist on the typical "we play a game every week and you play too and we talk about it" format.

So, what is Crossplay?

Here's how it works. The first episode of every month John and I will choose a game with some criteria.

  1. The game has to be something the other person has never (or very very briefly) played.
  2. The game has to be something I have played. At least enough to form a solid opinion.
  3. Obviously, the game needs to be owned or easily accessable.
We each choose a game for the other to play. For instance, our first month I challenged John to play Shadows of the Empire on N64. He has never played it, and I have. John challenged me to play StarTropics for NES. I've never played it, and John has.

But why tho?

We're fairly certain it'll lead to some interesting conversations on the nature of nostalgia, and whether a game is actually good, or just remembered fondly.

That sounds cool! How can I get involved?

We're always looking for ways to engage our audience. So we welcome you to join us! Play either (or BOTH) games, and let us know your thoughts on Twitter! So be sure to hit me up. We'll read your comments on the show!

So that's the gist. We're hoping some great fun comes out of it! so be sure you're subscribed to RetroLogic on the podcast platform of your choice:
